As the name indicates, the Public Health Audiovisual Documenter (PhaDoc) aims to promote health and prevent disease through audiovisual materials. Because of that, PhaDoc organizes yearly a song and video contest to encourage the public, especially young people aged from 10 to 24 years old to take actions that can prevent disease and illness before they occur. Thus, the company welcomes singers, choirs, and vloggers who wish to join the movement by participating as contestants.
For each contest, PhaDoc provides materials such as lyrics, script, and instrumental for interested individuals or groups to showcase their talents. Based on the type of contest chosen (song or video), the contestants submit a song or a video for the appreciation of the public. At the end of the competition, PhaDoc and its partners reward the three candidates who receive the highest volume of votes.
For the interested individuals or groups who intend to register for the PhaDoc’s health contest, below are some tips to win it.
Submission of the application form on time
It is important for candidates to show interest in the contest by submitting an application form on time. So, candidates are advised to consult regularly PhaDoc’s calendar located on its website to respect deadlines.
Complete the registration paperwork
After receiving the applications, PhaDoc sends some materials to applicants and requests their electronic signatures for copyright purposes. Therefore, candidates are encouraged to comply on time. For, PhaDoc approves only 24 registrants for its upcoming contest on a first-come-first-served basis. As Peterson (2017) argues, “If you [submit] too late, then there’s a good chance all the slots may be filled, and you’ll be out of luck”(Peterson, 2017).
The motivation of contestant’s fanbase
As soon as applicants for the contest receive their approval email to participate in the Live Audition phase of the competition, they are invited to motivate their friends, colleagues, and family members to vote for them when the vote is open. According to PhaDoc’s protocols, the candidate with the highest volume of votes is considered the PhaDoc’s health ambassador and receives the cash prize worth $5000 us. So, it is important for candidates to motivate their fans to vote for them as often as they can.
Gikaru (2020) from Music Gateway agrees to confirm that, “A fanbase is the cornerstone of every artist’s music career. They are the ones that will buy, stream and download your music, attend your concerts, buy your merch, tell their friends about you, like, comment on, and share your posts on social media” (Gikaru, 2020).
Promotion on social media
No need to say that social media is a great way to network. According to the College of Contemporary Music (2021) “Social media connects fans to artists. Fans can comment, like, and share content and may even have the opportunity to speak with their favorite artists through social media platforms. As one of the most powerful assets to using social media, artists can develop a stronger relationship with their fanbases” (College of Contemporary Music, 2021). So, it makes sense for candidates to share their song or video version on popular websites and encourage their connexions to vote for them.
In conclusion, it is important to say that Promoting health and preventing illnesses through song and video contests is a revolutionary method to do health education. PhaDoc gives the platform, but contestants are advised to encourage close friends, colleagues, and family members to join the movement by voting for them as often as they wish. Thus, the public, especially young people are given free educational audiovisual documents while winners become health ambassadors.
